LSU Shreveport offers thirteen graduate degrees to students who hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Graduate study is much more than a continuation of undergraduate work. It provides students the opportunity to become investigators in special fields of learning, to broaden their professional and cultural background, and to improve their professional skills and competence. The true spirit of graduate study is one of inquiry and the desire to add to one’s knowledge.

The Leadership Studies Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) Program is an interdisciplinary terminal degree program with the primary purpose of enhancing leadership potential that will support community growth in various human endeavors. The program will achieve this purpose by fostering scholarly inquiry and a working understanding of the following critical components of leadership: leadership theory with an integrative approach; management of complex organizations; diversity and social justice; resource allocation and development; policy analysis and development; power, politics, and influence; and data collection, analysis, and research.

Our online master of education degree program is removing the geographic, time and financial barriers that often prevent students from achieving their education goals. An MBA from LSUS provides valuable skills related to understanding the integration and application of strategy, leadership, and management.

The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (MEDCI) offers an Accelerated Online Program with concentrations in Reading/Literacy Specialist, English as a Second Language, Educational Technology, and Academically Gifted. These courses are offered in a 7 week format, 100% online. Library Science and Secondary Content Area are two other concentrations which are offered through a mix of online courses and traditional face to face courses. The MEDCI program is a 36 to 39-hour program. Teacher certification or one-year full-time professional experience is required to enter the MEDCI program.

The Master of Education in Educational Leadership program is a 36-hour, performance-based program of study. It is a preparation program designed for those aspiring to school principalship and other areas of supervision. A teaching certificate is required to enter the MEDL program.

LSU Shreveport’s Master of Health Administration program prepares students for professional middle and upper management positions within healthcare institutions. Such institutions include hospitals and medical centers, medical group practices, pharmaceutical firms, medical technology corporations, health insurance companies, and long term care centers.

The Master of Liberal Arts endorses the principle that an understanding and appreciation of the liberal arts is best attained through an integration of specialized disciplines. The broadly based program consists of 33 semester hours and offers the mature student a graduate program that is interdiscplinary in nature and nonprofessional in intent.

The Master of Public Health Degree Program is offered in cooperation with Louisiana State University Health Science-Shreveport and includes 48 credit hours. The curriculum is specifically designed to prepare public health graduate students for careers in a public health setting.

The Master of Science in Computer Systems Technology is an interdisciplinary program with a computer science core. Graduate coursework can also include study in mathematics, biology, and business.

The Master of Science in Counseling program is designed to develop professional counselors and to prepare students for further graduate study in related doctoral programs. The program promotes scholarship, professionalism and excellence in counseling, and recognizes high attainment in the pursuit of academic and clinical excellence.

The Master of Science in Nonprofit Administration is a professional development degree for middle and upper-level administration in nonprofit organizations. Designed for working students or students looking for alternative course delivery, this program can be completed 100% online.

Graduates of the Specialist in School Psychology program typically work in public school systems where they apply data-based decision making and problem-solving, consultation, psychological evaluation, and research skills to prevent or remediate academic, behavioral, and mental health problems. The program is a full-time, three-year, 72-hour course of academic study, including practicum experiences, and internship.
